Humans were designed to move. Across the land, in the trees, using their flexible barefeet. Using movements such as pandiculation, walking, climbing, crawling, squatting, or reaching for that delicious ‘apple’ on the top branches, we naturally cue the physical body to work in its original balanced, integrated way - a ‘Top to Toe’ involvement in the movement. Stimulate the nervous system, activate core stability and functional strength, increase the suppleness of the body. Learn how to move in the fluid way we were designed. This form of movement fitness can be incorporated into a practice or as the main focus of an outdoor session.

You don’t have to actually climb a big tree or go barefoot (although it helps), to experience and benefit from moving as we were designed. With at least one foot on the ground, primordial movements can begin cuing your body so it can find its way back to natural stability, integrated full body movement, strength, lightness and an energetic ‘vavaVOOM’ that’s way more delicious than that apple!

If you want to take it to the next level then barefoot shoes allow the sensory stimulation and feedback from the ground through feet and legs which is akin to supercharging the effect. Grumpy elephants become spring gazelles!

And why bother?

Because something happens when you come into you natural way of moving. Your core can switch on automatically, your body can come into line without overcompensating in an effort to consciously correct. You find stability and groundedness. Because you can come to your centre, into steadiness and ease physically - which will impact you in the same way mentally, energetically and spiritually.

Using our senses to consciously enhance our connection to nature, you are guided to interact with, feel, move with and absorb nature’s elements, focussing in increasingly subtle ways to experience a deeper reset. This natural wellbeing is something vital that is increasing lost or missing in our modern world functioning. Body systems down regulate to bring us into health and healing modes; space, clarity and creativity of mind arises. Experience this mindfulness technique as a Forest Bathing or Beach Bathing session or incorporated into an outdoor activity session such as Nordic Walking.

The incredible vein structure of a leaf - which you also see in the roots of the tree, in our human blood vessels, and that scientist see in the cosmos. Find something that engages you, then let the nature get you out of your overused thinking head, help you realign and drop into a calming sense of ‘coming home’, back to base. We are a piece of nature.
