Why do I do what I do?…

The teaching, guidance and space that I hold for people to rebalance and evolve their wellbeing is a culmination of study elements and life experiences - from nature to science, from subtle practitioner to outdoor warrior! A little Bio info may help to explain….

I grew up with the world of sailing and windsurfing around me which meant growing up as some kind of outdoor warrior. I have been a teacher or instructor of some kind since my teens, often living in places of immersive nature; the mountains, forests, African bush or sea. The experience of moving and Being in natural environments as a grounding and nourishing ‘food’ of life is a vital element.

While running my own holiday business in Egypt in my 20's and 30's, i discovered how beautifully the calming subtleties of yoga complimented the more vigorous and exciting windsurfing and kitesurfing vibe that i had created on a raw and wild desert beach. My conscious Yin-Yan understanding of life was born and a yogic appreciation of steadiness and ease through chaos or challenge. Initially studying a dedicated pathway of ashtanga yoga with Jane Sleven and Paul Dallaghan, working in Samahita Thailand's retreat centre bought all aspects of teaching approaches and knowledge through the door.  I became deeply interested in Yoga Therapy and completed a diploma in London with Yogacampus, finding my original BSc in Human Biology had its career purpose after all!

The scientific thread has consistently been interwoven and in more recent years infused with specific study in the science led approach to breathwork of the Oxygen Advantage method with Patrick McKeown. The BNW Nordic Walking instructing has become a therapeutic tool - or just a great, low intensity exercise modality for anyone - that gives me a simple teaching way to bring everything back into nature. The desire to flow with nature is a path into primordial movement and is a developing passion to move, flow and be in the way that nature designed us.

The rest then seems to fall into place.

In addition to clients wishing to boost general health, performance or relieve ailments, I have taught, helped or held a space for those rehabilitating or on a difficult illness pathway as well as people lifting themselves out of depression or recognising the need to down regualte away from overly stressful functioning.

I feel passionately that as many of us as possible need to be living or at least touching this - not just for ourselves but for our kids and new ways of existing on this planet.
